Karina Phipps
I am an abstract impressionist painter based in Palm Beach Gardens. Through my studies in fine arts school in addition to painting I studied drawing and sculpture. I am proficient in various media and painting styles but naturally gravitate towards post-impressionism and more recently semi-realism specifically with figure painting. I love to use bright colors along with loose visible brushstrokes. Experimentation is my technique. I try something new every time I start a new piece. I am very curious and fascinated by the unlimited means of expression that various mediums and painting techniques offer when combined together. There are unlimited possibilities in terms of means of expression for a painter and I am taking full advantage of that. I often plan my composition, but I try not to overthink during the painting process. I get into the flow and go where it takes me, surrendering to the spontaneity of the moment. I love painting with oils. The unique properties of this medium project a brilliance of colors with unmatched blending capabilities.
I am inspired by the beautiful world of dance and the realities of modern times. I combine figure painting with pure abstraction which invites the viewer into the fantasy world where each piece is open to interpretation.
